I, Dr Gauri Joshi have an experience of more than 14 years in
the field of Neurosurgery. After completing the training from PGI Chandigarh, I worked as an Assistant Professor in Neurosurgery at Government Medical College and Hospital from May 2000 to October 2007. I single handedly managed and developed the department there. Having given an excellent coverage for head trauma there, I developed subspecialities like neuroendoscopy, neuro vascular surgery & spine surgery.
Having a keen interest in spine surgery, brain and spinal tumors I have endeavoured in further enhancing these skills. With this as an aim, I have procured and have exposure to latest neurosurgical equipments like Moller Wedel Microscope (German), Midas Rex drill (USA), Sujita head frame, Karl Storz Spinal Endoscope(German) and various instruments.
Neurosurgery, as a medical branch consists of prevention, diagnosis, treatment & rehabilitation of disorders that affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal column and spinal cord, nerves. Though it started as a speciality in the early 20th century in the western world, it has evolved in India in the last four to five decades.With the availability of various radiological investigations (like CT Scan, MRI), excellent anesthesia and ICU facilities , development of superb neurosurgical equipments (like microscopes, drills, cautery, endoscopes), surgery of brain and spine has progressed to admirable heights.
